22 February 2019, the day after my birthday, I traipsed across town to enjoy the latest installation of the annual orchid show at the New York Botanical Garden. I enjoyed this year’s show much more than last year’s for two reasons: I went on the day members got to see the show before the rest of the public would be admitted, and the designs were much more pleasing to my eyes. I was able to take my time to really absorb their beauty.
