Capitalism has allowed for a sliver of humanity to control the vast majority of wealth on the planet. I agree with the people who point that out in their arguments for socialism. But they all are forgetting what the common denominator will be:
The system will still be run primarily by power-hungry white men who are more concerned with people like themselves.
The economic system isn’t the problem. Ego is the problem. Selfishness is the problem. Arrogance is the problem. Change to socialism or even communism and in short order any wealth and power redistribution will again be reversed. Look at who is anointed as the faces of any interracial or cross-gender social movement, even grassroots progressive ones, even the LGBT movement, and you’ll see what I mean.
As long as we fixate on something as superficial as an economic system we are distracted from addressing the root societal problems that will plague us no matter what economic system we use.
