Let’s assume for a moment that the stories fundamentalist Christians tell of the rapture, the rise of the anti-Christ, and the tribulation period are true. How do their stories address their part in causing the destabilization of the world? If you look at the oppressive politics many evangelicals support, the blatant disrespect they have for people who are not like them (e.g. racism, sexism, heterosexism, cissexism, classism, Islamophobia), and the effect that has had on driving people away from their ranks, and if you look at the kind of people they support in elections (such as our current president), much of the blame for how bad things are before the rapture has to be laid at their feet. What does their belief system say their punishment will be for destabilizing the world and destroying the planet? How does their understanding of God address them having a huge part in ushering in someone with anti-Christ beliefs such as our current president?
A just god would never allow them to destroy the planet, destabilize the economy, cause wars, and oppress minority groups, then take them to Heaven while everyone else is left to suffer the consequences. Justice requires it to be the other way around…which means a lot of them would be very surprised at who is raptured and who is left behind
