We’re watching the movie “Jupiter Ascending”, a 2015 action-adventure movie starring Channing Tatum. I noticed a few things right off the bat:
- Even on other planets, everyone with power/authority is white.
- The all-white aristocracy from worlds other than earth speaks with an affected, pseudo-British accent. (Is this supposed to be the sound of superiority or something?)
- The only people of color I saw were hunters, guards, etc. Basically people with no autonomy and only as much power as the white people over them gave them.
Hollywood can miss me with all of that. I am sick. I am tired. I am bored.
