A friend said it well: this sort of thing screws up what we think people “should have” achieved by a certain age. It’s unhealthy.

I don’t get it
Because of ageism and sexism in the entertainment industry, it is common for women in that industry to lie about their ages. It is not likely Ms. Lovato is really 23. The people in the industry know this, but protect the lie by not calling it out.
