Let your kids discover who they are and walk in their truth young, or you will be the cause of them missing a lot of opportunities. There aren’t nearly as many opportunities for people who learn who they are later in life, and unlearning burns decades they’ll never get back. By the time they’ve worked to unlearn who they were told to be those who are looking to mentor are looking only at the next generation. Then they will spend time making avoidable mistakes and reinventing the wheel, because no one is interested in mentoring them “at that age”.
People like us often hear, “I’m surprised you don’t know xyz by now!” I’ve been too busy unlearning ingrained foolishness. Forgive me for wanting to be whole.
Blaze those trails, you who had to spend decades unlearning in order to learn who you are. The “movers and shakers” may not care, but I do.
