I have a new favorite place to be out in nature during autumn: the Bronx’s Orchard Beach. I went out on this windy, mostly cloudy day and spent a couple of hours walking along the shore and over a hiking path. The area was all but empty, which is just the kind of solitude my soul needed. I didn’t even listen to my music player; instead I relished the sounds of the waves and the wind in the trees.
