Princeton, West Virginia is a small (pop. 5822) town nestled in the south of the state, not far from the border of Virginia. Like much of the area it is coal mining country, predominantly white (a little over 85%), and overwhelmingly conservative (75% voted for that interloper in the White House). One of my sisters-in-law and two of my nieces live there. We recently took time off from work and drove down to spend a long weekend with them. I am in no way enamored with the town, but I was able to find beauty there with the help of my photographer’s eye and trusty camera. I made these photos on 12 and 14 October 2019.
