From racist cops who murder and cover up murder, to non-acceptance of LGBT people, to hatred of immigrants, to greedy corporations, to interpersonal issues, I am sick of it all.
I am tired of raising my voice in protest and education and being ignored. I am tired of playing by someone else’s rules and being ignored. I am tired of playing by my own rules and being dismissed.
I am tired of being told to do more, to do something different, to do less, to be louder, to be quieter, of seeing nothing change on the large scale it needs to change, of being shut out when I don’t toe the line, of being asked to be okay with people I love tiptoeing around my life partnership, of being asked to give space without grace, of being shut out for mistakes, of being cut off for standing up for myself, of being told not to feel sorry for myself when I dare mention what bothers me. And I am especially sick of the silence of those who should be allies and the willful ignorance of those who should be taking notes.
I will continue to build my own world. I will continue to nurture connections with my tribe. I will continue to let my light shine. And I will continue to tell the truth: I am tired.
